ASIA-PACIFIC WORKSHOP on GPWM and ISWM

GPWM / ISWM Asia Pacific workshopFrom 16 to 20 April 2012, IETC held a workshop on the Global Partnership on Waste Management (GPWM) and on Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM). These two workshops gathered over 80 participants from the Asia-Pacific region.

The purpose of the workshop on the GPWM was to discuss

  • The mapping exercise on ongoing waste management activities.

  • Needs for capacity building in waste management.

  • The information platform on waste management.

The workshop on ISWM from 19 to 20 April 2012 focused on

  • Reviewing the current work on ISWM.

  • Discussing new areas under ISWM (eco-towns, coastal cities, and disaster-prone cities).

  • Discussing future plans for ISWM for 2012-2013.

  • Discussing strategies to implement ISWM through the “UN Delivering as One” initiative.
