UNEP has joined the rest of the international development community in Rome, Italy (5 to 9 December 2011) to showcase innovative, sustainable and replicable Food Security solutions within the context of Climate Change at the Global South-South Development Expo.

Rome, Italy 05 December 2011 - UNEP has joined the rest of the international development community in Rome, Italy (5 to 9 December 2011) to showcase innovative, sustainable and replicable Food Security solutions within the context of Climate Change at the Global South-South Development Expo.

The Expo is designed to bring together developing countries and their development partners - including donors, United Nations Agencies, the private sector and civil society organisations - to share their Southern-generated, evidence-based development solutions contributing to the internationally agreed development goals (IADGs), including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The solutions presented will meet the attributes anticipated including South priority/demand driven, South ownership, and South leadership. In addition, they will demonstrate broad-based partnership as well as efficiency, sustainability, and scalability.

The key components of the Expo will be the leadership Roundtable on Food Security; the High Level Development Cooperation, Directors- General Meeting - an interactive dialogue on critical themes of Southern development, attended by high-level representatives and senior officials of United Nations and member states and will feature renowned leaders in South-South cooperation as well as running exhibitions of South-South solutions

On the last day of the Expo, innovative south-south solutions will be awarded.
