Cast Your Vote in the Rio+20 Big Blog Off! wo, apr 4, 2012

Nairobi, 4 April 2014 - Earlier this year, UNEP and TreeHugger invited green bloggers from across the world to submit an article to the World Environment Day (WED) competition.

Around 150 entries were received and each stood a chance to win a fully-paid trip to Brazil (host country of WED 2012) to blog on activities taking place across the country on 5 June 2012.

A UNEP-TreeHugger jury has now selected the top 10 bloggers who are Andrea Newell, an editor at TriplePundit/Sustainable Industries; Carissa Welton, founder of Greening the Beige;Jessi Stafford, a social media strategist and writer; Jonathan Mariano, who has interests in free-market based sustainable solutions; Karin Rives, an online editor and writer; Kendra Pierre-Louis, an environmentalist; Kyle Empringham, a budding ecologist; Leon Kaye,  editor of GreenGoPost.com; Maggie Comstock, a policy analyst; and Scott Bartlett, an aspiring fiction writer and environmental activist

The Top 10 are now battling it out in the Rio+20 Big Blog Off! - where the ultimate decision rests with you.

Members of the public get to choose their favourite blogger by voting for them on the WED website: http://www.unep.org/wed/bloggers/

Throughout April, the finalists will each publish two new articles and the online community will decide which posts they like best by voting on the page. Whichever blogger accumulates the most votes by April 30th (23:59 GMT) wins the competition.

An expert panel of climate specialists and leading bloggers will also comment on each of the new blogs articles posted for this online showdown to help you make your choice.

WED 2012 is set to be the biggest global event for positive action on the environment in the run-up to the Rio+20 conference on sustainable development, to be held on 20-22 June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro.
