Several of the BSP objectives address Montreal Protocol-related issues, including:
- complying with international agreements and obligations at the national level
- provisions to promote, facilitate and finance environmentally sound technologies.
- capacity-strengthening frameworks for developing coherent international environmental policies
The BSP lists indicative capacity building activities that it will address, including many related to Montreal Protocol implementation, for example "facilitating compliance with and enforcement of obligations under multilateral environmental agreements".
Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol provides developing countries - including Governments and the private sector - with capacity building assistance to enable those countries to meet their Montreal Protocol compliance obligations.
UNEP's capacity building work as an Implementing Agency of the Fund, along with that of our sister agencies UNDP, UNIDO and the World Bank, directly contributes to realising the BSP objectives.
The work of UNEP's OzonAction Branch relevant to the BSP is referenced in UNEP's Capacity Building & Technology Support Database.
