The National Ozone Unit, Armenia organised a series of events between 14 and 19 September. Three flash mobs with participation of members from the Environmental Club "Molorak" took place on the centrally located Freedom Square, Northern Avenue and Republic Square in Yerevan. The dancing attracted a big crowd and during the dancing the children distributed postcards dedicated to the ozone layer. A short movie is available on www.armozone.am

The International Ozone Day 2013 was observed throughout Bangladesh on 16 September 2013. Observance of the Day had been as elsewhere in the world with renewed expression of solidarity with the international community to create awareness on the adverse impacts of the Ozone Layer Depletion.
The Department of Environment, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh undertook various programmes on that day including brought out special supplements in five National Dailies in which messages of the Hon'ble President, the Hon'ble Prime Minister, the Hon'ble Minister for Environment and Forests, Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forests were published. The special supplements in the daily newspaper also contained articles by the Director General of the Department of Environment on the theme, "A healthy atmosphere – the Future We Want” and an article by the National Project Director of all ODS Projects on “Activities of Bangladesh on the Protection of Ozone Layer”.

  • More than 1000 kids were educated, with lectures given by BiH NOU, dermatologist doctor dr, Hana Helpikangas
  • representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina at Euromelanoma and 4 volunteers.
  • The Ozzy ozone cartoon was also presented.

THE Department of Environment and the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority (FRCA) celebrated World Ozone Day on Monday, and the 10th anniversary of the MOU signed between them. The Montreal Protocol is a UN treaty which was opened to signature on September 16, 1987, with the purpose of reducing emissions of Ozone-Depleting Substances (ODS) which damage the ozone layer. Acting deputy secretary for Environment Jitoko Tikolevu said the protocol was one of the world's great environmental protection success stories, with the treaty being the most widely signed in UN history.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will join the world to celebrate World Ozone Day that is an International day for the preservation of the Ozone Layer on Monday, 16th September.
A statement from the EPA in Accra signed by Mrs Angelina Ama Tutuah Mensah, Head of the Public Affairs Department and copied to the Ghana news Agency (GNA) said the celebration of the Day would provide an opportunity for individuals worldwide to reflect on the progress that had been made with regards to the protection of the ozone layer.
“The Day also serves as a reminder to decision makers and the public on the need to protect the Ozone layer that serves as a shield and safeguards the earth and the lives of humans.”

New Delhi: The 19th international day for preservation of Ozone layer will be observed on September 14 with the theme "a healthy atmosphere, the future we want". Union minister of Environment and Forests Jayanthi Natarajan will preside over the function at Chennai, a statement from the ministry said Thursday.

The Environmental Conservation Department, Ministry of Environmental Conservation and Forestry are planning a ceremony with the following activities:

  • T-Shirt and sports shirt distribution to all participants
  • Educational video programme
  • Dissemination of Ozone day leaflet
  • Exhibition.


The 26th International Day for the Preservation of Ozone Layer was successfully celebrated with much enthusiasm in Kathmandu, Nepal on 16th September 2013. The day was celebrated with various awareness programs and distribution of awareness materials.

A radio talk program was conducted on Radio Nepal on the occasion of Ozone Day. There were three participants in the talk show: Dr. Sita Ram Joshi, ex- Director General, Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology and ex- National Ozone Officer, Mr. Govinda Prasad Kharel, Under Secretary, Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment and Mr. Shailesh Kumar Jha, National Ozone Officer. The topics on the talk show included various issues such as the preservation of the ozone layer, social responsibility towards its preservation as well as an introduction to the Montreal Protocol. The talk show was aired on a national level on the evening of 16th September 2013.

Efforts to protect ozone layer earns praise
The Sultanate celebrated yesterday the International Day for Preservation Ozone Layer titled “Ozone protects life on Earth”. As far as ozone is a concern, the Sultanate has approved both Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone and Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer in London 1990 and Copenhagen 1992. This approval was after Royal Decree no. 73/98 assuring continued support to environmental issues locally, regionally and internationally.

World Ozone Layer Day: Preserving mother earth's blanket
ISLAMABAD: Efforts are under way in Pakistan to reduce the production and consumption of substances, which deplete the Earth’s ozone layer, by 10 per cent over the next couple of years, according to officials at the Climate Change Division.

“This year, we started the process of phasing out hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) which are commonly used in refrigerators and air conditioners,” said Asif Khan, the National Programme Manager of the Ozone Cell. “When released in the atmosphere, the chlorine atoms in HCFCs can destroy the ozone layer.”

SEPA launches awareness drive - World Ozone Day today
Karachi - On the occasion of World Ozone Day today (September 16) Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) has launched a one-day awareness campaign to make the people aware on the role of Ozone layer for protecting the world from direct contact of ultraviolet rays of sun that come after being sieved; otherwise, these rays can cause skin cancer in those who if receive them un-sieved apart from causing huge damage to natural environment.

The Philippines Star Newspaper dedicated a whole page for Ozone Day which included messages from the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, Senator Hon. Lren Legarda and the Secretary of Environment, Ramon J.P. Pake.
Activities included school lectures, radio interviews, and a programme to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Philippines' signing of the Montreal Protocol and a lecture on health issues in relation with the MEA.

Under the Patronage of H.E. Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad - Minister of Environment and Water of United Arab Emirates, the United Nations Environment Programme – Regional Office for West Asia (UNEP/ROWA) jointly organized a dinner ceremony on the occasion of the 26th International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.

The ceremony started with an opening statement presented by Eng. Aisha Al Abdooli; Acting Undersecretary- Environmental Affairs Sector Ministry of Environment and Water of UAE. Iyad Abumoghli, Director and Regional Representative of UNEP/ROWA gave UNEP’s message on the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
