The “International Special Issue 2012-2013" of the Industria & Formazione was launched on the occasion of the Montreal Protocol 25th Anniversary at the 24th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol, during a side event on 12 November, jointly organized by UNEP OzonAction, International Institute for Refrigeration, and Centro Studi Galileo. This webinar session is intended as a forum to offer the participants an opportunity to interact with some of the authors on the following topics:
- "Refrigeration main challenges", Didier Coulomb, Director IIR (International Institute of Refrigeration)
- “Working together with the major experts towards the future of refrigeration”, Marco Buoni, Vice President, AREA (Air Conditioning and Refrigeration European Association)
- “Minichannel devices for low charge refrigerating systems”, Davide Del Col, Professor, University of Padova, Italy

About the speakers:

Didier Coulomb is the Director of the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR), an intergovernmental organization comprising 61 Member countries and many private and corporate members. The IIR mission is to promote knowledge of refrigeration technology and all its applications in order to address today’s mayor issues, including food safety and protection of the environment (reduction of the global warming, prevention of ozone depletion).

Marco Buoni, is the Vice President (Since 2010) of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration European Association AREA, Chairman of the Task Force on LOW GWP refrigerants issuing 2 position papers on “Guidance On minimum requirements for contractors’ training & certification” and on “Guidance on use and basic competence requirements for contractors“ He is also Secretary General of the Italian Association of Refrigeration Technicians and Technical Director of Centro Studi Galileo.

Davide Del Col, Assistant Professor with tenure at the University of Padova, Italy, where he teaches the course of Thermodynamics and Heat transfer at the Faculty of Energy Engineering. He is member of Commission B1 (Thermodynamics and transfer processes) of IIR (Interna-tional Institute of Refrigeration), Paris. His main research activity regards two-phase heat transfer, both condensation and flow boiling. In the recent years he has been particularly involved in two-phase heat transfer inside mini and microchannels. He has also been active in the field of new refrigerants and heat pumps using natural refrigerants.
