Centro Studi Galileo in Italy, the European Association of Refrigeration, Air-conditioning and Heat Pump Contractors (AREA) and the Regional Ozone Network for Europe & Central Asia (ECA network) jointly organized the above meeting to strengthen national refrigeration & air-conditioning (RAC) associations in ECA network countries.
Representatives of national RAC associations participate since 2009 in the annual meetings of the ECA network countries and play a crucial role in implementing the national HCFC phase-out management plans in ECA network countries.
Some countries have established RAC associations for many years (e.g. Serbia) whereas others have relatively young or recently created associations (Croatia, Macedonia FYR). Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro intend to create national RAC associations in the near future. The ECA network supported the creation of national RAC associations in several countries.
Past thematic meetings of the ECA network focused on legislation related to the phase-out of ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and the European Union regulation on fluorinated gases (F-gases), the establishment of training & certification schemes for RAC experts and servicing companies, the cooperation of RAC experts with building planners / engineers as well as e-learning tools for RAC technicians.
The above meeting focused on the management and strengthening of national RAC associations and provided a hands-on example of a certification including training and assessment of RAC technicians as one o key services national RAC associations may provide to their members.
