Contact group meeting, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 10-11 July 2012

The Regional Ozone Network for Europe & Central Asia (ECA network) of UNEP DTIE’s OzonAction Programme jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina organised the thematic meeting for ECA network countries: accession country Croatia, candidate countries Serbia and Montenegro and pre-candidate country Bosnia and Herzegovina on harmonization of ODS and F-gas legislation with European Union (EU) regulations in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 10-11 July 2012.

The objective of the thematic meeting was to facilitate the adoption of relevant policies and legislation in order to support the implementation of HCFC phase-out management plans as well as the accession process. It  allowed in particular:

  • Present ODS and F-gas legislation and expected future review of F-gas regulation in the European Union
  • Review current as well as new legislation and policy measures planned to be put in place under the HCFC   phase-out management plans (HPMPs)
  • Involve policy makers in the discussion of necessary adjustments of national policies and legislation
  • Facilitate the exchange of views and consultation between Ozone Officers and policy experts of accession and candidate countries
  • Define a roadmap towards harmonization of national policies and legislation with EU regulations.
