Theme for 30th Anniversary of the Vienna Convention and Ozone Day 2015

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, an important milestone in the protection of the ozone layer. The theme for the celebration of the anniversary and this year’s International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer to be marked on 16 September is, “30 Years of Healing the Ozone Together.” The theme is supported by the slogan, “Ozone: All there is between you and UV.”  Read more

Shanghai, 8-10 April 2015 - The Ozone2Climate (O2C) Technology Roadshow and Industry Roundtable were held as part of the 26th International China Refrigeration Exhibition (CRH 2015) from 8 -10 April 2015 in Shanghai. UNEP hosts HCFC Control Policy & Enforcement Consultation for Democratic People's Republic of Korea
Bangkok, 29 April 2015 – The UNEP OzonAction Compliance Assistance Program (CAP) in the Regional Office for Asia Pacific (ROAP) organized a consultation for the inter-ministry delegation from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea with the aim of accelerating national efforts to reduce production and consumption of hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) which are ozone-depleting substances (ODS) controlled under the Montreal Protocol. Workshop on Promoting Public Procurement of Climate Friendly Alternatives to HFCs in Asia Pacific
Goyang City, 13 March 2015 - In order to foster a dialogue between public procurers and ozone agencies in Asia Pacific, and to build their capacity to integrate alternatives to high-GWP HFCs into public procurement activities, USEPA and UNEP organised a one-day workshop in Goyang, Republic of Korea (13 March), back-to-back with the Ozone2Climate Technology Roadshow and Industry Roundtable and the Joint Thematic Meeting of the South Asia and South East Asia Ozone Officers Networks. Joint SA-SEAP Network Meeting of Ozone Officers

Goyang City, 10 March 2015 – The “Joint Network Meeting of Ozone Officers of South Asia and Southeast Asia and the Pacific” has commenced today, in Goyang City, with National Ozone Officers (NOOs) from 21 countries. The meeting hosted by the Government of the Republic of Korea is being organised as part of the UNEP Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP) funded by the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol.  Read more


Guide on Good Practices: Phasing-out HCFCs in the Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Servicing Sector

The main purpose of this Guide on Good Practices: Phasing-out HCFCs in the Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Servicing Sector is to provide National Ozone Units and refrigeration and air-conditioning training institutes with a standardised module for delivering training programme under HCFC Phase-out Management Plan. It could be used together with web-based slides and interactive animated exercise. The publication can serve as a guide for other multilateral environmental agreements to also think globally and act locally.

Phasing out HCFCs in the Phasing out HCFCs in the Small and Medium-sized Foam Enterprises. This booklet aims to assist the foam enterprises, especially SMEs, to better understand the policies on HCFC phase-out, access to assistance from the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol and access alternative technologies in different foam applications taking into account challenges in converting to alternative technology. It also discusses some tips on how to identify enterprises that possibly use HCFCs and verify HCFCs consumption of the enterprises. Read more
