Members from developed countries must arrange their own sponsorship of time, travel and other expenses of participation.  Organizations where experts are employed usually sponsor these expenses, but in some cases national governments or industry associations also sponsor expenses.

Members from countries with economies in transition and developing countries, defined under Article 5(1) (A5(1))of the Protocol, donate their time, but expenses of travel and per diem for meetings of TEAP and TOCs are paid by UNEP.

In a typical year, TOC members attend one meeting of 3-5 days and devote an additional two weeks to research, writing, and correspondence.  TEAP members serving as Co-Chairs of TOCs devote an additional two weeks or more to writing and correspondence, one week to a TEAP meeting, and attend one or two additional week-long diplomatic meetings, as necessary.  Methyl Bromide TOC (MBTOC) members have recently met twice per year in 5-day meetings.  In 2005, one MBTOC Co-Chair will devote 3 to 6 months of time to committee activities

Further Information

TEAP and its TOCs have a goal of achieving 50% membership for countries with economies in transition and developing countries with gender and global geographical balance.

The TOCs have over 200 members, with about a third from countries with economies in transition and developing countries. Currently, TEAP has 8 members from developed countries, 6 members from developing countries, and 1 member from a country with economy in transition.
