PCFV hold its first national workshop in Ethiopia

EthiopiameetingThe PCFV held its first national sensitization workshop in Ethiopia on 22 July to discuss the options available to the country and benefits from lowering sulphur levels in fuels and cleaner vehicles. Over 50 participants attended the workshop that was coordinated by the Forum for Environment. Participants thanked the PCFV for organizing the workshop and bringing to the fore the issues of urban air pollution that are not otherwise prioritized in the country.

The current national standard for diesel fuel is 10,000ppm even though 5,000ppm is imported. The meeting recommended the revision of the national standard to 5,000ppm. Further reductions in sulphur would be considered at a future date due to the price differential between the various sulphur grades. The recommendations of the meeting will be presented to Parliamentarians later in the year and national sensitization will continue. » More
