The CAI-Asia Center, a strategic partner of PCFV in implementing its activities in Asia, held a “Clean Fleet Management and Eco-driving Workshop” in Manila last 3rd March 2009 for the companies under the First Philippine Holdings Corporation (FPHC) – one of the major holding companies in the Philippines whose core activities are power, infrastructure, manufacturing and property.
The workshop was organized in partnership with the Philippine Business for the Environment (PBE) and the Business Excellence Group of the FPHC. This is the second training on the UNEP Clean Fleet Management Toolkit conducted by CAI-Asia following the Toolkit’s launch at the BAQ in November 2008.
Thirty (30) participants representing ten (10) companies attended the workshop. Attorney Glynda Bathan and Mr. Sudhir Gota of the CAI-Asia Center gave introductory presentations on the Toolkit and the issues that it tries to alleviate – air pollution and GHG emissions from transport. Hands-on training sessions on the Toolkit where given by Mr. Alvin Mejia (CAI-Asia Center) and Ms. Lisa Antonio (PBE). Mr. JP Tuason, of the Tuason Racing School gave a presentation on the basics of eco-driving while Mr. Mike Co of the CAI-Asia Center finished the training with a presentation on case studies about eco-driving. At least two of the FPHC companies have expressed their interest in implementing the toolkit.
