The North Africa better air quality in cities meeting

The North Africa Better Air Quality (BAQ) workshop will be held in Tunis, Tunisia on 23-25 November 2009. The workshop brings together policy experts from Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) and Egypt; policy experts from Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen are participating as observers. The workshop is jointly organised by UNEP, Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS), GAP Forum, Stockholm Environment Institute, United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Air Pollution Information Network for Africa (APINA), and the World Bank. The workshop seeks to develop concrete measures to address increasing levels of air pollution in the North Africa region. Recommendations of the policy experts will inform a Ministerial session planned for early next year.
