Mauritius phased out leaded petrol in August 2002 in view of reducing lead emissions from vehicle exhaust. A public awareness campaign was launched in April/May 2002 to explain the benefits of introducing unleaded petrol in the country.
The South Africa Medical Research Council, working together with the US-EPA, produced some public awareness materials for their campaign on lead and health impacts in South Africa.
