Biography

Anja von Moltke is the Head of the UNEP's Trade, Policy and Planning Unit. She has almost 20 years of experience in the field of international environmental and economic policy, international negotiations and capacity-building in various environmental sectors. Prior to leading the trade unit, Anja served as Senior Advisor for Rio+20 and co-developed a number of initiatives including the Partnership for Action for a Green Economy (PAGE) and the United Nations Forum on Sustainability Standards (UNFSS). She has furthermore led various programmes and projects for UNEP relating to climate change and biodiversity, economic instruments and subsidies reform.

Before joining UNEP in 1999, Anja worked for the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety as a negotiator for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto Protocol. She has also worked for several other agencies of the United Nations, including the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

Anja holds an MPhil in Environment and Development from Cambridge University and a BSc in Management from the London School of Economics (LSE).
