UNEP Division of Early Warning and Assessment
Division of Early Warning and Assessment (DEWA) Provides the world community with improved access to meaningful environmental data and information, and to help increase the capacity of governments to use environmental information for decision-making and action planning for sustainable human development.
DEWA's work includes:
- Promoting availability of, and enhancing access to, the scientific information needed by decision makers for better environmental management;
- Assessing environmental conditions and threats to alert policy makers, and to facilitate the development of impact reduction strategies;
- Devising strategies and contributing to early warning to better cope with environmental threats;
- Identifying emerging issues.
