Measuring the UN's Impact

In 2009, for the first time, all UN organisations worked together to measure the greenhouse gas emissions of the entire UN system. This involved measuring the emissions of each of the UN's offices in 530 locations, and every plane journey undertaken by UN staff - to establish a clear base-line for 2008, which was published at Copenhagen in December 2009 in Moving Towards a Climate Neutral UN. The process will be repeated in 2010.

Full details of the Climate Neutral Strategy, the greenhouse gas inventory and the reporting process can be found on the Environment Management Group (EMG) website.
