Contact Secretariat of Governing Bodies

The Secretariat of the Governing Bodies is responsible for supporting the Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum(GC/GMEF) and its subsidiary organs, including the Committee of Permanent Representatives(CPR) to UNEP, in its work and functions. The GC/GMEF meets annually either as a regular session held in Nairobi or as a special session held normally elsewhere. The CPR consists of approximately 100 Permanent Representatives to UNEP.

The Office of the Secretary for Governing Bodies is the UNEP’s focal point of all external relations particularly with Governments. It ensures cooperative relations between UNEP secretariat and Governments, as well as NGOs, intergovernmental organizations and relevant UN bodies, by promoting UNEP’s global partnership with these external partners. Mr. Jamil Ahmad is Chief of the Secretariat of Governing Bodies and the Secretary for the Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum (GC/GMEF).
