Resource Mobilization is a management process. It is based on the strength of the programmes to fulfil Unep's mission.
The 24th session of UNEP's Governing Council re-confirmed its support for the provision of stable, adequate and predictable funding for the United Nations Environment Programme, in order to carry out its mandate in addressing urgent environmental issues.
As UNEP is a UN body, contributions from Governments are the core basis of its funding. The priority here is to secure increased regular contributions from Governments. Another important element in the current resource mobilization activities include development of strategic partnerships with governments or individual ministries willing to consider additional contributions in support of UNEP's priority programmes or projects. Furthermore, in order to broaden the scope of its activities, UNEP is actively developing another distinct basis of support, from non-state actors -e.g. businesses, foundations, NGOs and individuals who believe that UNEP is well placed to improve the global environment.
This website provides easy access to information on UNEP's financial basis and makes UNEP's fundraising process transparent. Moreover, it provides the opportunity to make donations to UNEP. We welcome your ideas and suggestions on how to improve the funding of activities for the benefit of the world environment. Please communicate them to the Resource Mobilization Section. |
