The NRBP-
Phase III is a follow-up of the Nairobi River Basin Project
Phases I and II, which established benchmarks, identified interventions and mobilised the participation of Nairobi residents.
The design of NRBP has identified
five key results areas that will contribute to the achievement of improved water quality and environment within the Nairobi River Basin. These areas comprise the following:
| Result 1: |
Development of environmental management and planning systems;
|
| Result 2: |
Rehabilitation and restoration of the Nairobi Dam; |
| Result 3: |
Development and operationalisation of water quantity and quality measuring protocols;
|
| Result 4: |
Enhanced service delivery, environmental conservation and sustainable utilisation of resources; and |
| Result 5: |
Sustained public awareness of, and participation in, environmental issues directly affecting the Nairobi River Basin. |
NRBP-Phase III was designed to become a model for environmental action at the national level by bringing together UN agencies, governmental authorities, the private sector and the civil society through partnership.
