The aim of the 12th African MGSF is to provide a platform for exchange and consultation among civil society on key environmental issues, in preparation for the 12th Global Civil Society Forum (GCSF), to be held from 18-19 February 2011, prior to the 26th Session of UNEP’s Governing Council/ Global Ministerial Environment Forum (GC/GMEF); and to facilitate Major Groups' contribution to the GC/GMEF and other international environmental forums.
Objectives
Provide a platform for exchanges on major environmental issues, including International Environmental Governance (IEG), RIO+20preparation processes as well as green economy and sustainable consumption and production;
Discuss and reach a consensus on key messages and recommendations from Africa for the IEG consultation meeting in October 2010 in Geneva and GMGSF;
Brief the African MGS on key regional environment processes: Outcomes of AMCEN 13 and ongoing work on climate change, Health and Environment, AEO-3.
