Mr. Atul Bagai joined the OzonAction programme initially as a Training Officer in August 2000 before being appointed as the Regional Officer (Networking), Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP) on 1 November 2002. Presently he is the Senior Regional Coordinator of CAP. Before joining the Programme, he worked as the Ozone Cell Director at the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. As Training Officer, his work included organising training workshops for refrigeration technicians and customs officers in South Asia, South East Asia and CEITs. Now he heads the ROAP CAP team assisting countries under UNEP's reoriented Compliance Assistance Programme. Mr. Bagai, an Indian national, holds a Post Graduate degree in History from the University of Delhi and has completed a two year distance learning course on environmental law with UNITAR. He belongs to the elite Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of India. Before joining the Programme, he worked in a variety of field and policy level assignments at both federal and provincial levels in India. Recognising his extraordinary contribution to Montreal Protocol implementation, he was given the 20th Anniversary of Ozone Protection Award from the Ozone Secretariat, and 2007 Stratospheric Ozone Protection Award from USEPA.
