Area(s) of Expertise: Ms. Kakuko Nagatani-Yoshida joined the Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP) team in ROAP in October 2009 through the first phase of the UNEP Pilot Rotation Programme. She is responsible for policy and enforcement related components of the CAP-ROAP work programmes as well as national “ozone” project implementation in South Asia. Prior to her arrival in Bangkok, Kakuko worked as Programme Officer in DEWA Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) from 2001 - 2009. Based first in Mexico City and then in Panama City, she assisted countries in integrated environmental assessment, geospatial analysis, and statistical database construction. Before joining UNEP, she worked as Conservation & Development Officer for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-UK). From 1995-1997, she was in charge of the coast regional office of the Wildlife Clubs of Kenya Association (WCK), a national NGO for environmental education. Kakuko co-authored multiple publications on environmental assessment methodology, environmental health, and youth-led environmental movements and edited publications on enforcement. She holds BSc in Zoology/ Wildlife Conservation from the Fort Valley State College (USA) and MSc in Environmental Management from the University of Stirling (UK).
