Area(s) of Expertise: Mr. Sanjeev Tamhane is a member in the Climate Change Team in UNEP’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. He works on the climate change mitigation finance issues with specific focus on the “End-user Finance for Access to Clean Energy Technologies” (FACET). Prior to joining UNEP’s Regional Office as Programme Officer, Sanjeev worked for Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

Sanjeev has more than 25 years of experience in consulting and projects finance. At FS he led assignments in the area of Sustainable Energy Finance in Asia (China and Indonesia 2010- 2012). He supported the implementation of an Energy Efficiency Financing Programme in Serbia and worked on designing a TA programme for a specialised financial institution providing support to Renewable Energy projects in India (2009).

Sanjeev was the Country Manager for ECO-Asia program of USAID (2009-10). He worked on several bilateral projects in the area of Sustainable Energy Financing including managing specialised funds for energy technology innovation and commercialisation. Sanjeev worked for premier financial institution in India (ICICI Bank) in the area of financing technology development and commercialization projects in the energy sector (under USAID – Program for Acceleration of Commercial Energy Research – PACER). He also implemented several consulting assignments as a part of advisory services (in the areas of infrastructure and urban infrastructure finance).

Sanjeev is a Granduate Mechanical Engineer from Bombay University and has Masters’ in Business Administration from Pune University. He can be reached at Ext. 1977 OR tamhane@un.org
