Area(s) of Expertise: Mr. Thomas Enters joined UNEP as the UN-REDD Regional Coordinator in November 2010 and provides support to UN-REDD partner countries in the Asia-Pacific region. After receiving a Masters in Environmental Design from the University of Calgary (Canada), he started his professional career as a research fellow at the Forest Policy Institute of the University of Freiburg (Germany). He then earned a PhD from the Australian National University (Canberra) before joining the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) in early 1994. After consulting for a variety of international organizations, he started a six-year assignment with the Regional Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) coordinating the EC-FAO Partnership Programme on Information and Analysis for Sustainable Forest Management between 2000 and 2003 and facilitating activities under the National Forest Programme Facility (2003 to 2006). He worked as the Manager of the Regional and Country Analysis and Support Program at RECOFTC – The Center for People and Forests, based in Bangkok from 2008 to 2010.
