Global Environment Facility

The GEF is an independent financial organization that provides grants to developing countries and countries with economies in transition for projects related to biodiversity, climate change, international waters, land degradation, the ozone layer, and persistent organic pollutants. UNEP is one of the implementing agencies of the GEF, and is the only GEF agency whose core business focuses on the environment.

UNEP/ROAP plays a key role in supporting eligible countries in the Asia Pacific region to develop and execute GEF projects.
