Asia Pacific Forum for Environment and Development (APFED)

Asia Pacific Forum for Environment and Development (APFED) brings together eminent experts from Asia and the Pacific with a view to addressing critical issues facing Asia-Pacific region and to propose new models for equitable and sustainable development. The programme is now in its second phase which comprises three components: namely Policy Dialogue, Knowledge Initiative and a Showcase Programme.

The APFED Showcase Programme focuses on promoting sustainable development through support to projects that promote innovative policies, measures, and actions in the region. The programme grants up to USD 30,000 for projects that demonstrate innovative approaches to environmental problems. Around 10-12 projects are selected under the programme each year. These activities are then shared with partners and stakeholders through the APFED Good Practice Database. This programme is funded by the Ministry of Environment, Japan. The APFED Showcase Facility is hosted by UNEP Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.

Currently, 47 showcase projects, ranging from climate change to biodiversity, resource management and much more, are being carried out in 18 countries.
