The Asia Pacific Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production, supported by UNEP, has held a series of meetings, which have contributed to identifying priorities and needs.
The Roundtable meeting in September 2008 in Cebu, Philippines was held with the 3rd Policy Consultation Forum of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) Green Growth Initiative. The joint meeting recognized the Green Growth Initiative as the basis for developing a regional framework of programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production to contribute to the Marrakech Process and the 10 Years Framework of Programme (10YFP).
A roadmap of Green Growth and Sustainable Consumption and Production activities for the formulation of an Asia-Pacific input to the Marrakech Process and development of the 10YFP was subsequently launched in October 2008. An Expert's regional workshop on Sustainable Consumption and Production that was organized in Manila in September 2009 and the subsequent Regional Implementation Meeting for the 18th Session of the Commission for Sustainable Development identified priority programmes of critical interest to the Asia region, to be included in a 10FYP on Sustainable Consumption and Production.
The most recent Roundtable meeting in June 2010 in Colombo Sri Lanka recognized the need for the region and the countries to work towards formulating their input for the 10 YFP on Sustainable Consumption and Production.
