North American Regional Consultation Meeting
for the 10th UNEP Global Civil Society Forum

November 13-14, 2008, Washington, D.C.

Representatives of civil society will meet at the World Resources Institute in Washington, D.C. on 13-14 November to prepare for the 10th UNEP Global Civil Society Forum (GCSF) and for the twenty-fifth session of the Governing Council/ Global Ministerial Environment Forum (GC-25/GMEF) to be held in Nairobi, from 16-20 February 2009.

The issues to be discussed at the consultation are some of the main issues on the agenda for the upcoming UNEP Governing Council / Global Ministerial Environment Forum: Globalization and the Environment—Global Crises: National Chaos?, International Environmental Governance and United Nations Reform—IEG: Help or Hindrance?, and UNEP’s Programme of Work 2010-2011.

Major groups to be represented at the North American consultations include NGOs, Women, Youth, Worker and Trade Unions, Business and Industry, and the Scientific and Technological Community.

In line with the subjects that will be discussed at the 25th session of the GC/GMEF, the North American Regional Consultative meeting will include sessions on the UNEP Programme of work (POW) 2010 - 2011, focusing on the six priority areas. More>>
