North American Regional Consultation Meeting
for the 8th UNEP Global Civil Society Forum
2-3 November 2006, Washington, D.C.
More than 50 representatives of civil society will meet at the United Nations Foundation in Washington, D.C. this week to prepare for the 8th UNEP Global Civil Society Forum (GCSF) and for the twenty-fourth session of the Governing Council/ Global Ministerial Environment Forum (GC-24/GMEF) to be held in Nairobi, from 5 to 9 February 2007.
The issues to be discussed at the consultation are some of the main issues on the agenda for the upcoming UNEP Governing Council / Global Ministerial Environment Forum: Globalization, Ecosystems Services and Human Wellbeing; Gender and the Environment; Water and the Environment; and Chemical Management.
Major groups to be represented at the North American consultations include NGOs, Indigenous Peoples, Women, Youth, Worker and Trade Unions, Business and Industry, and the Scientific Community. More
