Nature and Sport Training Camps
Launched and supported by UNEP and the Global Sports Alliance. The camps are
intended to provide leadership training on the environment, culture and sport
to children and youth, 16 years and below, in underprivileged communities in
Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and Latin America and the Caribbean. The camps
which are run by community organizations or national branches of the Global
Sports Alliance will build awareness and provide basic training on the development
of community environmental activities (recycling, clean ups, etc) and on various
sports activities (soccer, tennis, basketball, etc).
Nature and Sport Training Camps in Nairobi, Kenya
The Camp located at Langata, Nairobi is managed by Sadili Oval, a local community-driven
sports centre. Sadili is situated near Kibera, the biggest slum in Kenya. The
area has over 30,000 children who love sport but have limited facilities and
was chosen to be the first centre in Africa to run the unique training camp.
You can support the camp in different ways:
• Through financial contributions
• Through donation of used sport equipment (soccer, tennis, basketball)
• Organizing an exchange programme for a few of the kids.
