FOCUS AREASUNEP’s Climate Change Programme focuses on four strategic priority areas: mitigation, adaptation, science and communication.Responses to climate change have traditionally been organized around two main types of interventions: those with a focus on reducing emissions of greenhouse gases (mitigation) and those aimed at reducing the risks of, and improving society’s resilience to, increased climate variability and long term climatic changes (adaptation). The best available science on climate change is provided through the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) set up by UNEP and the World Meteorological Organization 20 years ago. |
