Vital Arctic Graphics - People and global heritage on our last wild shores
The purpose of this report is to compile a number of " vital " Arctic graphics that describe the Arctic, the livelihoods of Arctic indigenous peoples and the future well-being of this region. It summarizes some key threats that endanger the future sustainability of the Arctic. The coastal regions are particularly important to the ecology and to the peoples of the Arctic and their current protection status is therefore given particular focus.
Hard-copies of the report are available from EarthPrint - the environmental bookstore

Vital Climate Change Graphics Update
This second edition, launched in February 2005, is based on the Third Assessment Report (TAR) of the IPCC that was published in 2001. The publication of this second edition was prompted by the popularity of the first edition and the obvious need for providing updated information to our readers.
The Vital Climate Graphics for Latin America and the Caribbean
[English][Español]
Despite the relatively small contribution of Latin America and the Caribbean to global warming, the fragile natural environments, livelihoods and resource-dependent economies of the region could be threatened by the impacts of global climate change.

The Vital Climate Graphics Africa [English][Français]
The latest report (Third Assessment Report) of the UNEP/WMO Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) notes a warming of approximately 0.7°C over most of the African continent during the 20th century based on historical records. While the exact nature of the changes in temperature or precipitation, and extreme events are not known, there is general agreement that extreme events will get worse, and trends in most variables will change in response to warming.

The Vital Climate Graphics
As evidence accumulates that we may already be witnessing the early signs of global climate change, the need to communicate this issue to both policymakers and the general public becomes ever more urgent. The challenge facing generalists is that the subject is complex and often highly specialized. Much of our understanding of climate change comes from sophisticated computer-based models, data sets, and theoretical insights. Decision-makers need insight into such scientific information if they are to craft and implement effective solutions.

Vital Climate Graphics: the impacts of climate change
The visual information contained in Vital Climate Graphics makes it possible to grasp complex facts more quickly and fully than would be possible through simple text.

Climate Change Information Kit (PDF)

The fact sheets information kit seek to summarize in simple language the most up-to-date findings of the IPCC and the most recent developments under the Convention and Protocol. I hope you find them useful in your own work.

Simplified Guide to the IPCC's"Climate Change 2001 Mitigation"
This is the third volume on mitigation. It analyses how to take action by limiting net greenhouse gas emissions.

Carbon, Forests and People: Towards the integrated management of carbon sequestration, the environment and sustainable livelihoods.
This publication provides an overview of the opportunities and challenges for carbon sequestration activities in the forestry and agricultural sectors of both industrialised and developing countries. It outlines a set of strategies and approaches seeking to ensure that forest and other land-use climate change mitigation measures deliver sustainable development benefits in an equitable and cost-effective manner.

Greenhouse Gas Emission Graphics
GRID-Arendal has produced graphs documenting countries' historical and projected emissions, with the Kyoto target as a point of reference. The data comes from the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Global Environment Outlook 3, Chapter on Atmosphere: Greenhouse gases and Climate Change
Over the past three decades, anthropogenic emissions of chemical compounds into the atmosphere have caused many environmental and health problems. Some chemicals, such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), are produced deliberately and end up in the atmosphere by accident from equipment or goods. Others, such as sulphur dioxide (SO2) and carbon monoxide (CO), are unavoidable by-products of burning fossil fuels. Urban air pollution, acid rain, contamination by toxic chemicals (some of them persistent and transported over long distances), depletion of the stratospheric ozone layer and changes in the global climatic system are all important environmental threats to ecosystems and human wellbeing.
