Third Annual Course

The Third Annual course, 2006 will be held at University of KwaZulu-Natal, in South Africa. All information will be available at this website as the course is co-organised also by University of Joensuu and UNEP. The 2007 course will be held in Joensuu, Finland. The Second Annual Course was held in August 2005, in University of Joensuu. There were 47 participants selected from 210 applications from 81 countries for the course of 2005. The Course is intended for experienced government officials engaged in international environmental negotiations. In addition, other stakeholders such as representatives of non-governmental organizations and the private sector, may submit an application for the course. Researchers and academics in the field of international environmental law are also eligible. Participants with an equal distribution from the North and South will be admitted to the Course. As a matter of principle, the Course will try to maintain a gender balance. Participants having successfully completed this course will be awarded a Diploma.
An application form is now available. A draft programme will be announced on the Course website February 2006. The application deadline will be 7th April 2006. Participants from developed countries are expected to pay their expenses and a tuition fees. Candidates from developing countries and from countries in transition can apply for a fellowship.
