Transport affects everyone, every day. The Transport sector is a major contributor to air pollution and climate emissions, impact set to increase with an expected tripling of the global car fleet. UNEP’s work is aimed at decoupling increased mobility from increased emissions. UNEP is a partner in several leading global transport programs in areas such as fuel economy, small particulate pollution and infrastructure development, implemented through public-private partnerships.

ECOWAS states meet to discuss regional harmonization of low sulphur standards
18-19 May 2015, Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire
About 50 participants from 11 of the 15 West African ECOWAS countries met on 18-19 May 2015 in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire to prepare a sub-regional strategy to low sulphur fuels. The two-day workshop was organized by the Ministry of Environment, Urban Sanitation and Sustainable Development (MINESUDD) of Cote d‘Ivoire, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and UNEP.
