10th Global Partnership Meeting of the PCFV
13-14 March 2014, Paris, France

The 10th Global Meeting of the Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles took place on 13-14 May 2014 in Paris, France. The meeting was hosted by UNEP's Division of Technology, Industry and Economics and discussed progress on the global leaded petrol phase-out campaign (only six countries remain), low sulphur fuels progress and combining cleaner fuels with matching emission standards.

Thirty-five partner organizations from around the world participated in the meeting, which also happened to be first Global Partners Meeting following the re-launch of the PCFV in October 2012. The meeting discussed the need for a targeted approach to the last remaining leaded countries to ensure a complete elimination of leaded petrol worldwide. The reduction of sulphur levels in fuels is now gaining momentum with close to 20 countries already at or expected to reduce sulphur levels in fuels to 50 ppm and below by the end of 2014. Most importantly, a systems approach that combines fuel quality with vehicle emission standards is needed moving forward. During the course of this year a regulatory toolkit that will support countries wishing to match fuel quality to vehicle emission standards will be published and piloted.
