The Partnership holds its 8th Global Partnership Meeting (GPM) in Washington D.C.

8GPM

The Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles (PCFV) successfully held its 8th global meeting of the Partnership on 21 and 22 April 2010 in Washington D.C. The meeting which was hosted by the US Government (US Environmental Protection Agency) had the largest Partner turn-out in GPM history.

In attendance were 74 participants (two via conference call) representing 35 member organizations. Regrettably, a number of Partners were unable to attend the meeting due to flight disruptions in Europe as a result of a volcano eruption in Iceland.

The meeting, opened by the Ms Michelle DePass, US EPA Assistant Administrator, Office of International Affairs reviewed performance of the 2008-2009 work programmed and approved the PCFV Work Programme for the 2010-2011 biennium.

There were wide ranging discussions and the PCFV vehicles work as well as the strategic direction of the PCFV eliciting much interest and debate. Decisions from these discussions laid the foundation for the direction of on-going and future work of the Partnership.

In continuing its focus to be of value to policy and decision makers in developing and transition countries, partners proposed the development of a short, clear and comprehensive report on how countries could benefit from cleaner unleaded- petrol by introducing cleaner vehicles. A similar report was also recommended on low sulphur fuels including two fact sheets to accompany these two reports.

8 GPM was organized by the UNEP-based Clearing-House of the PCFV with support from the meeting's host, the US Environmental Protection Agency, a major PCFV partner and donor.

The GPMs are restricted to PCFV partner organizations and selected observers. To join the PCFV, please visit http://www.unep.org/transport/pcfv/about/form.asp.
