Jordan goes Unleaded
The Clearing-House was in a celebratory mood in February on learning of Jordan’s implementation of the
final phase of their lead phase-out campaign. Jordan
went totally free of lead starting from 10/2/2008. Only
two types of unleaded gasoline are now produced, 90 and
95 octanes.
The C-H, who have an MOU with Jordan congratulated the
Jordanian team for their hard work in the successful
implementation of their work plan. As a result, Palestine that
imports gasoline from Israel and Jordan has also gone unleaded.
A national Workshop is planned in the second quarter of 2008,
as a conclusion of the successful phase-out of leaded gasoline in
Jordan. This will also lay ground for the next work phase of
sensitization and planning for reduction of sulphur and clean
vehicles work.
