Philippines Working Group to draft executive order on fuel economy standards

The Philippines Office of the Presidential Assistant for Climate Change, together with UNEP and the Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities (CAI-Asia), have facilitated a series of meetings on fuel economy whose ultimate goal is developing draft national standards for fuel economy in the Philippines. The project will also develop national baseline data, as well as provide technical support in policy drafting. The Department of Energy and the Department of Trade and Industry-Bureau of Product Standards are serving as lead government agency in officially issuing the standards. A Sub-Committee to the Committee on Harmonization of Vehicle Standards and Regulations is being constituted to draft an executive order on fuel economy standards for new vehicles.
