The PCFV holds successful 7th Global Partnership Meeting in Hungary

The 7th Global Partnership meeting of the PCFV (7GPM) took place in Szentendre, Hungary on 28- 29 April, 2009 and was attended by 35 participants representing 25 partner and 3 observer organizations. The meeting provided a useful opportunity for Partners to review progress and achievements since the 6GPM held in Beijing, China in April 2008.

The meeting focused on the past year’s advancements in the Partnership’s three core campaigns, encouraging the final steps towards a global leaded gasoline phase out, the low sulphur fuels campaign and the growing body of work to promote clean vehicles. » More

FYR Macedonia on track for lead phase-out mid 2009

Following a sub regional meeting on leaded petrol elimination held in Ohrid, FYR Macedonia 12-13 February attended by representatives from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro the national agency on fuel stock reserves announced a successful tender for the remaining 800 tons of leaded fuel stocks. The leaded fuel will be sold at designated, clearly marked pumps and stations countrywide until stocks are exhausted. The Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, along with the national working group on cleaner fuels and vehicles, will ensure public information on potential catalyst damage. » More

DART Agency starts campaign to promote cleaner public transportation in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

DART MeetingThe Dar Rapid Transit Agency (DART), under the Prime Minister’s Office is implementing the bus rapid transit program in Dar es Salaam that aims at increasing the level of mobility within the city, promote the use of non-motorized transport, introduce efficient and comfortable public transport system and address air pollution at local and global level. » More

CAI-Asia 2nd Clean Fleet Management Training in Manila

The CAI-Asia Center, a strategic partner of PCFV in implementing its activities in Asia, held a “Clean Fleet Management and Eco-driving Workshop” in Manila last 3rd March 2009 for the companies under the First Philippine Holdings Corporation (FPHC) – one of the major holding companies in the Philippines whose core activities are power, infrastructure, manufacturing and property. » More

Regional Workshop on Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles for East Asia

Workshop Asia A sub-regional workshop by the PCFV Clearing-House took place on 15 May 2009 in Pathumthani, Thailand. The workshop was arranged to coincide with a meeting of the Acid Deposition Monitoring Network in East Asia (EANET) on 13 -14 May 2009. EANET countries comprise of Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Russia, Thailand and Vietnam; all countries apart from Korea, Russia and Japan were represented at the two meetings

Motor vehicles emission reduction training in Nairobi, Kenya - 27th March 2009

Gambia MeetingThe Motor Vehicles Emission Reduction Training for vehicle inspectors was held at the UNEP Headquarters on 27 March 2009. The training drew 69 participants from 9 African countries including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Mozambique and Malawi. The main aim was to create self compliance and policing through sensitization and detailing of benefits to be accrued from proper maintenance of vehicles.
