Plant for the Planet -Turkey

To launch the Plant for the Planet Campaign, 8000trees were planted in Turkey during the Plant for the Planet planting week in April 2006. One of the central objectives of the campaign is to contribute towards the greening of specific areas in cities and the dedication, participation and excitement shown by the children in Turkey that have joined the campaign has been tremendous. The Ministry of Environment, in conjunction with the Scouting and Guiding Federation of Turkey and TEMA (The Turkish Foundation for Combating Soil Erosion, Forestation and for Protection of Natural Habitats) carried out a very successful round of tree-planting this season. Their planting week was a grand success as they were able to plant and distribute as many as 4000 Pine, Acacia and Oak trees. Turkey is aiming at planting a total of 50,000 trees in 2006
