Plant for the Planet -United Kingdom

In the United Kingdom, the campaign has been successful in achieving the first of its main goals, which is to instill a culture of conservation in young people. Approximately 90 local school children chose ‘Glasidir’, an old copper mining site, as the venue for their very first Plant for the Planet tree planting day. They planted 1200 oak trees. Nathan Sutcliffe (who pioneered the project in the UK) and his team are also arranging a visit to mature oak woodlands in the autumn later this year, where they will collect acorns, plant them and nurture them ready for planting next year

The project will run up to 2008 and an estimated 200 children will be planting over 3500 trees between now and then.
