We, the delegates at the 2006 Tunza International Children’s Conference on the Environment, pledge to take concrete action to protect our environment and to raise awareness about the environment and the UNEP Tunza programme. Each of us will: |
| |
Plant a minimum of 20 trees each year, and send short reports and photos for posting on the UNEP Tunza website
Organize a Tunza International Tree Planting Week in the last week of September each year, and mobilize our communities and schools to join in
Publicize Tunza and invite other children to participate by writing articles, developing banners and arranging meetings
Make presentations about the Conference and about Tunza activities to our schools |
Write to decision makers about environmental issues
Say “NO TO PLASTIC BAGS”, promote recycling in schools and communities and, whenever possible, buy only recycled products or products that can be recycled
Write to UNEP regularly on how we are implementing our commitments.
| |
We, the delegates at the 2006 Tunza International Children’s Conference on the Environment, challenge UNEP to support our committed action by: |
| |
Creating an exclusive e-mail network for all Tunza 2006 participants so we can communicate with each other until the 2008 Tunza Children’s Conference
Creating a bulletin board for Tunza 2006 participants
Starting a certificate programme to motivate children to participate in Tunza activities and to recognize those who fully implement the Tunza “Environmental Contract”
Providing letters of endorsement to all participants to enable us to get support and recognition for our activities
Producing UNEP children’s materials in other languages and develop new publications.
