Reduce your paper and wood consumption. Look
for paper that is made from recycled products or tree-free fibers. Choose
paper that has been processed without chlorine. Always use the back of
a sheet of paper when you can.
Reuse
and recycle.
You can recycle just
about anything these days. Return your hangers to the dry cleaners and
use milk cartons as planters for spring and summer seeds.
Look for products
with minimal packaging.
Do you really need
individually wrapped juice boxes or can you use a thermos instead? Packaging
makes up almost 50% of our garbage by volume.
Plant trees.
The United Nations
has launched a tree planting campaign. Contact your school or club to
join the campaign and plant trees. Spread the word. The more people know
about rainforest destruction, the more they will fight to stop it.
