Seeking United Nations Volunteer (UNV)

United Nations Volunteers offer their services in various technical areas. They are highly qualified in their areas of expertise with solid professional experience and motivated by a desire to help.

Requirements

A university degree (either BA/BSc)
At least three years of professional experience
At least age 25 (no maximum age limit)
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
Ability to adjust to difficult living conditions
National UNV volunteer assignments usually range from 6 to 24 months
Strong commitment to values and principles of volunteerism
Good working knowledge in at least one of the three working UN languages: English, French and Spanish.

Title: Project Assistant

Type of Assignment:	Project Management
Project Title:	UNEP Mayombe Project
Duration:	1 year (renewable subject to project life-span and availability of funding)
Location, Country:	Nairobi, Kenya
Expected starting date:	As soon as possible

Brief Project Description

UNEP has recently received funding from the Government of Norway to help maintain and restore ecosystem integrity in the Congo Basin for biodiversity conservation, regional stability and improved human livelihoods. The long-term objective includes the establishment of a transboundary protected area and a regional cooperation mechanism in the Mayombe Forest between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Luki); Republic of Congo (Dimoneka) and Angola (Cacongo in Cabinda province).

Title: Technical Web Developer

Terms of Reference

Implement and deploy conceptual design
Develop and update both static and dynamic websites
Upload documents and other information as necessary in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish, and other languages as required
Create and maintain various databases
Working knowlege of web development tools like Dreamweaver, Visual Studio, HTML, XML, ASP/ASP.NET, Javascripts, VBscripts, Graphics, Desktop Publishing software is required.
Provide web statistical analysis reports
Must be a Kenyan National
