World Environment Day 2007 Celebrations
Tromsø, Norway

5 June 2007 - World Environment Day was celebrated across the world today. In Norway, which is hosting the international celebrations, previous Sophie Prize winners, including Canadian Inuit activist Sheila Watt-Cloutier and Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai, joined UNEP Executive Director Achim Steiner in a panel discussion on the environment and sustainable development. Later in the day, children from across Norway took to the streets in an Environment Parade to help raise awareness on the environment and climate change.
