Barmera
Our school is holding an environmental expo for local schools and the general public to highlight the need for our community to care for and use eco-initiatives to create a more sustainable community. Our town is on the foreshore of Lake Bonney, which is feeling the effects of being closed off from the River Murray due to a major drought. This is affecting our local fruit and tourist industry. Our students want to support our community through this event.

Castlemaine
The Mount Alexander Shire will celebrate WED with a public event in the Market Building, Castlemaine CBD. The event will showcase the current activities in the Mount Alexander Shire: the organisations working to provide solutions, the local businesses with innovative products, the individuals implementing ideas in their homes & backyards, and the story-telling of household experiences and learnings. We will have free practical workshops, speakers and family craft activities. The event will most importantly provide pathways for the community to further engage with local GHG reduction activities. We will also be launching the Castlemaine 500 Report: the performance story to engaging your community in an energy reduction behaviour change program.

PHILIPPINES

Mandaluyong
We proudly announce that the 3rd Manila Foods and Beverages Expo (MAFBEX) is slated on June 17-21, 2009 occupying the entire World Trade Center Metro Manila. We will certainly outdo ourselves once again to be the best show in the food industry. As a testament to the achievement of MAFBEX International Shows, with the Philippines as host country this year, the Hotel & Restaurant Association of the Philippines (HRAP) has selected MAFBEX as the venue of the 5th ASEAN Bartenders Championship, featuring professional contenders from all over the region vying for the title. On the academic side, College of Saint Benilde will hold a series of competitions with a theme "SAFARI" for the World Environment Day awareness among students. Furthermore, professional chefs will demonstrate preparation of potpourri of international cuisine. Indeed, this will result in an interesting fanciful mix of professionals and amateurs.
