On Saturday, June 6th, we would like to have a short town meeting with students from the three schools in our neighborhood and local children who reside in Bonan'thepe to discuss why we should not litter/pollute & identify ways to prevent littering/pollution. We have discussed the following possibilities: - corporate sponsorship of additional trashcans for the neighborhood (Hysacam will donate some) and banners to announce the event - A student /teacher committee to meet with the directors of the other schools and compose letters of sponsorship -creating anti-littering/pollution posters -community walk and clean-up. The Community Urban de Douala (CUD) will organize television coverage of the event.

During this year's World Environmental Day, the Kenya eco-preneurs will take the lead in sensitization and information sharing on the importance of reducing the CO2 emissions to 350 ppm. This will be carried out in primary schools around Nairobi where we will share the information with school children to prepare them for future environmental consciousness and savvy. In Kenya, environmental education at primary levels is still low and this will be an opportunity for the kids to play a role in combating climate change. All the activities will start on 1 May 2009 so as to climax on 5 June 2009. We invite all to join us and make this day a success for our planet.

Omaha, Nebraska
Omaha has been chosen by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as the host city for the North American celebrations of World Environment Day 2009. This year's theme is "UNite to Combat Climate Change." During the period between Earth Day (April 22) and World Environment Day (June 5), events throughout the community will highlight resources, initiatives and methods that promote low carbon economies and lifestyle such as: improved energy efficiency, alternative energy sources, forest conservation and eco-friendly consumption. The selection of Omaha reflects the city's commitment to environmental and sustainability issues. This commitment is demonstrated by the creation of the Green Omaha Coalition, which is a partnership of public agencies, non-profit groups and private organizations dedicated to promoting a healthy, sustainable community through partnerships, policy, and smart solutions; and by Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey's signing of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Agreement. In addition, Omaha was recently ranked 25th nationally in SustainLane's 2008 U.S. Cities Sustainability Rankings. Join in the celebrations by checking our calendar of events
