Education, Sustainable Consumption 

Summary of Achievements:

Yi Qian is a professor at Tsinghua University, a member of Chinese Academy of Engineers, and vice chairperson of Environment and Natural Resource Committee of National People's Congress. Through teaching, research, scientific advice and people’s representative functions, Prof. Qian has tirelessly promoted the preventive approach to environmental pollution in China and internationally.

Yi Qian is known for promoting the concepts and practices of cleaner production, the circular economy and sustainable cities in China and has voiced her concerns over the negative impacts of many development projects.

She chaired the cleaner production working group of China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development, and later the cleaner production and circular economy task force, which both contributed significantly to the formulation of Cleaner Production Promotion Act and nationwide recognition of the circular economy approach.

Professor Qian is a member of the board of Directors of the World Resources Institute. She also serves as Vice President of the China Association for Science and Technology.
