Summary of Achievements:
Joy Grant cofounded and served as Executive Director of the Programme for Belize for 13 yrs.
During her tenure Programme for Belize purchased over 400,000 acres of subtropical moist rainforest located in the northwest of Belize bordering both Mexico and Guatemala.
Under her stewardship PFB successfully launched outreach programs with the communities bordering the protected area, implemented an educational tourism project and undertook numerous research projects in sustainable forestry, archeology, carbon secuestration, bird and mammal inventories.
Joy Grant has an MBA from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.
In adddition to her positions with Programme For Belize and The Nature Conservancy, Joy has held positions with the Caribbean Development Bank in Barbados, served in Belize's Diplomatic Service as Deputy Head of Mission in the Washington, D.C. Embassy of Belize.
She has also served on the Board of the Central Bank of Belize, The Belize Sugar Industries and Chair of the Belize Development Finance Corporation.
Joy was very active in supporting other conservation groups and efforts in Belize helping to raise the overall consciousness of the need for conservation and sustainable development.
In her current position Joy overseas global conservation projects for The Nature Conservancy.
